Paris je t’aime

It’s easy to fall in love with Paris. That’s why Paris is the best rebound I can think of. So, where better to go to and distract yourself after a break-up or a heartbreak. Just remember movies like “Midnight in Paris” or “Before Sunset”that give us a pretty good idea of how beautiful Paris is. It is not only the beautiful architecture, or the stylish sense of fashion of the Parisians, there is more to it. It’s the way of life that Paris portraits: good food, good wine, class and style. Short: The savoir-vivre!

Favourite Neighbourhoods

Le Marais – by far the best area to stay in. Centrally located within the 3rd Arrondissement, Le Marais is in walking distance to most of the major sightseeing attractions. But not only that, it is home to a maze of cobbled streets lined with small fashion boutiques, corner cafés and the most amazing 19th Century houses.

Montmarte – Besides world renowned Sacre Coeur there is so much more to discover. Mainly galleries with paintings and sketches from local artists, cafés to watch the many tourists or stylish local restaurants with the most amazing French cuisine. Even just walking in the streets and taking it all in is worth the visit.

Favourite Eateries

One of the best creperies in town must be Breizh – no matter if you prefer your crepe sweet or savoury, you will definitely find something that suits your appetite.

Discovered by chance, one evening we had dinner at Café Plume and we felt right at home. The downstairs area is decorated as if you are in a cosy Parisian old-school living room. The portions are untypical huge for French Cuisine with a twist of international flavours too.

Dinner on one of the nights was booked at JJ BEAUMARCHAIS. Bookings essential as space is limited. Be prepared.. the menu is an adventure on its own. You can choose between a 4 or a 6 course meal and if you have any allergies, just, let them know and they will accommodate you. Other than that, let them surprise you. We loved every single course they served us.

I have been to Paris many times before. So, this trip wasn’t about the famous landmarks, it was about taking in life the Parisian way. Sitting in coffee shops and watching the locals and tourists alike. Drinking Champagne before lunch because that’s what the Parisians do! Dreaming of a rooftop apartment in Le Marais and window shopping the latest trends in small boutiques instead of visiting big international chains and department stores. In brief: savoir-vivre and falling in love again, with yourself, with Paris, with the beautiful things in life. Making that heart whole again.
